Doom Patrol!

Ron is excited to have been brought on board DC’s Doom Patrol comic. Beginning with issue #8, helping to shoulder the penciling work and joining Matthew Clark to keep the deadline wolves at bay. Matthew’s work is intense in detail and mood, and it’s a great pleasure to be joining him on this book. Doom Patrol is written by Keith Giffen, a long-time comics stand out. Keith’s work is smart, quirky and extremely fun. Here are some recent pages:

Busy Spring

While continuing with Anne Steelyard– now well into the third book, and finishing work on the crime graphic novel Silence & Co, new projects have been brought to the board, including “The Murder of King Tut” based on the James Patterson novel and coming from IDW. Ron is the co-artist on the book, aided by the stunning background work of studiomate Benjamin Dewey. Ben’s meticulous background work perfectly evokes the atmosphere and feel needed to help tell of the story of Egyptoligst Howard Carter as he searches for the legendary Tut’s tomb in the early years of the twentieth century. The rest of the book, set in ancient Egypt and telling the mysterious rise and fall of the Boy Pharoh, is vividly brought to life by Christopher Mitten. A few pages are posted below.

TO THE RESCUE OF SUPERMAN

Ron just finished work helping out talented fellow artist and all around good fellow Pete Woods by handling the art on 11 pages of Superman: World of New Krypton #8. Pete has a unique and distinctive style that Ron does his best to match on his pages. The goal is to make the whole issue as seamless as possible. You can judge for yourself when the issue goes on sale next month. For now, here are a couple sample pages:

Supergirl Trade Paperback

Ron’s art is featured prominintly in the new DC trade paperback Supergirl: Way of the World which collects a powerful story arc from the Supergirl series, including all of Ron’s issues to date on the title. It’s a handsome package!

Another fun project on Ron’s board at the moment is producing art for a project chronicling the history of the Green Bay Packers football team. The story begins in 1919, and calls for both grit and refinement to bring the story to life. Here are a couple of pages from the work-in-progress.

Back from Comic Con

Ron has returned from another busy San Diego Con. The convention was full once again with reunions with old friends and co-workers and also meeting with long-time and new fans. Here are a few shots from the show– Ron at his “station” in Artists Alley, Ron with friends and fellow artists Dave Gibbons (Watchmen) and Mark Buckingham (Fables), and Ron with his daughter Lisa who flew from Boston to attend the show.

San Diego Ahoy!

Ron will indeed be at the San Diego ComicCon again this year. He will be installed immovably at table space FF17 in hallowed Artist Alley, selling original pages and doing convention sketches. If you are at the show, he hopes you will come by and say Hello. A word to the wise: Artist Alley is an oasis of relative calm in the storm that is ComicCon.
